Challenges & Solutions
Park and So (2014) have concluded the major obstacles to collaborative teacher learning: time constraint, psychological barrier and lack of discussion culture. In the Primary School of Beijing Royal School, where a positive learning has established and the majority of the teachers are willing to open their classroom doors for discussions and sharing, the major barrier is, time. With the existing heavy workload and regular meetings, it is not easy to process new forms of professional development sessions. To conquer the barrier, it is best to thoroughly plan different themes of professional development series before actually taking actions. Eliminate the overlapped content from different themes, and make sure the efficiency of each theme. Meantime, making full use the chip time might be a good idea to have one-on-one casual talks for feedback of the PD.
